CFI's FMVA vs WSP's "Premium Package"
Hi all,
I am a first year graduate working for a legal/compliance team at small asset manager in NYC. I graduated with a finance/legal studies degree from a relatively "prestigious" university (non-target, at least non-target for the northeast). I took this role to help decide whether I should go to law school, following a nepotistic route, or lock in and pursue a career in Finance.
My firm has great internal mobility so it would most likely come down to showing effort and an opening position to make the switch, internally at least. I would ideally join the vals or credit team at my firm or externally, try to join a valuation team at another firm.
I want to put myself in the best possible position to make this switch. So here's the topic at hand:
Should I take and complete the CFI or WSP course? I have heard from people in banking that the WSP prep is almost necessary, or at least pushed on current workers while I heard some vals group at big accounting firms make their employees take the CFI FMVA course.
So what is better? I want to become essentially mouseless at excel while building my fundamental knowledges of these models and how they operate. Powerpoint training would also be a great bonus which I don't think the WSP course includes but has an add-on for it.
Any insight or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Edit: I think its funny how each site has a page comparing their course to their competitors. Based on WSO's breakdown of CFI and WSP, it seems the CFI is better for my goal but prefer hearing from people with actual experience with the courses and industry.
Does commenting on my own post help increase its reach cause im shameless
I accidently commented that twice and cant figure out how to delete it so I just edited it to this, enjoy
