Sky Corporate Strategy vs Civil Service Fast Track Internship
Which internship would look better on the CV for applying to MBB internships?
-
Corporate Strategy at Sky [subsidiary of Comcast and UK's largest TV provider for those in US who aren't familiar]
-
Civil Service Fast Track
I had thought Sky role would be more relevant, but looking at this BCG document (screenshot below) and also hearing that MBB also want interesting/well-rounded experiences, would taking the Civil Service role be better? I haven't been allocated a Department within the Government yet.
Based on the most helpful WSO content, both internships could be valuable for applying to MBB internships, but they offer different experiences that could be relevant depending on your career goals and the narrative you want to build. Here's a breakdown:
Corporate Strategy at Sky:
Civil Service Fast Track:
Considering the BCG document you mentioned and the fact that MBB firms value well-rounded experiences, the Civil Service role could indeed be interesting. It might set you apart from other candidates who have more traditional corporate internships.
Ultimately, the decision should also consider your personal interests and where you see yourself in the future. If you're more interested in public sector work and policy, the Civil Service Fast Track could be more beneficial. If you're set on corporate strategy and want to stay in the private sector, the Sky internship might be more aligned with your goals.
Remember, it's not just the name of the company but what you do there and the skills you gain that will be of interest to MBB firms. Make sure to get the most out of whichever internship you choose, focusing on developing a strong narrative around your experiences and the skills you've honed during your time there.

Would you mind sending the full BCG slideshow? Seen some other bits before about the university tier ranking, and would be interested to see what else it covers too.
Sure, it is from 2017 though so I'd imagine somethings arent fully accurate but here are the screenshots:
"Holiday wasters" XD Im dead
So despite them not having A Level requirements, I’m getting rejected because of my A Levels? I wish employers were more open like please don’t waste my time either.
I heard from Bain Consultant and Bain HR that there are no A Level requirements 😩 and the files no longer apply.
I know McKinsey still have the AAB criteria
So curious how you got your hands on this. Would love a hyper link or some insights. Thank you!
