Tech Sales to MC Pivot - Advice Needed

Hey guys - looking to pivot into MC, and current in tech sales. Would love your advice, more info is below:

_Overview:_

  • Graduated from Penn State with my BS in accounting, and the next year with my masters in accounting
  • Active CPA
  • Almost 6 years of working experience (will be 6 years on July 2020). Around 2 at KPMG, and the last 3.5 at Big Tech (think Salesforce/Google/AWS). Have been a top performer the entire time at Salesforce, and will be on 4th promotion come 8/1/20
  • Undergrad GPA of 3.41, Graduate GPA around 3.2
  • Will have Harvard CORe (https://online.hbs.edu/courses/core/) class (MBA prep class) completed by early June
  • While at Salesforce, I have helped consult on tech strategy for both financial services companies and also SaaS companies - interest going forward is in tech, not FINS

_Why MBA?_

  • Have the accounting, sales, tech background - want to fill in knowledge gaps to be well rounded
  • Eventually want to be on the operating side of a VC firm that advises on high-growth tech companies. When I see those that work there now, they all have consulting (usually MBB) and MBA background (usually top 10) - would be hard to crack in otherwise, and I don’t have any personal connections in the space
  • Can expand network of driven individuals - sales long term doesn’t sit well for me - want higher caliber of people and harder barrier to entry

*Career goals post-MBA*

  • Management consulting, would shoot for MBB, but would be chalk it up as a win to go to a T2 or a firm that deals mainly with TMT vertical (I say that because I've already been at the Big 4) - would want to be there 2 years and then make the move to VC/PE on the operating side (not investing) or go to a high growth startup on the strategy side. I’d look at anything other than MBB a failure, as theres a chance with my current background I could just pivot to T2/T3 consulting firms as an experienced hire
  • Also have a goal one day to be CEO of a tech company

_Why looking for more?_

  • While I can sell, and appreciate the skills I have learned, I am not sure I can see myself always being a sales guy - i’d rather always do whats best for the customer without having my management mis-aligned
  • Consulting aligns more to bringing value as a C-level

_2 Scenarios_

1) Full-Time

  • Try to get into a top-10 MBA program
  • Use OCR to get into MBB or a T2 consulting firm
  • Will be self-funded - go into a little amount of debt but nothing major, have saved some money up

2) Part-Time

  • Go to Stern part-time in Spring of 2021
  • Network with those in consulting on my own
  • Pivot to experience hire at a consulting firm, would still be in the process of getting my MBA while interviewing
  • Current company will pay for 25%-50% of this depending on what tech company I am at while a PT student

My question for all of you - now knowing my background, what would you recommend is the best path to make the move to management consulting, while optimizing on opportunity cost and tuition cost. Am I better off pivoting as an experienced hire, or do I need to re-brand myself by going to get my MBA?

Thanks!
