boutique ER to Corp Dev

Hello. Appreciate any insights. I am currently in a boutique ER shop but I am looking for opportunities to move into Corp Dev positions.

I don’t have a traditional ER background like undergraduate to bank. Completed a PHD then worked at non business positions at two top corporations in the industry before going into ER.

My question is: do I need to lateral into a BB ER so I have a bette opportunity to get into Corp Dev? I browse around and it seems that the prestige of BB is important. I do currently work for a good analyst though. I am just not sure if it is worth going into a BB where work is probably the same or the boss is worse.

Thanks.

Wayne
