Career path of a credit analyst (fresh graduate)

Context: just started the job as credit analyst at Moody's Investor Service. Studying a Masters in Finance right now (night classes / part time). Did 3 internships in blockchain, was lucky enough to be selected as they needed relevant knowledge. Work will involve quite a bit of thematic/macro research.

I am a total noob at this because my background slightly deviates from other students, and would like to ask seniors here how to best plan my career path ahead as a credit analyst. Typically where does one end up? Do people hop to other firms once every 2-3 years?

sorry for the basic questions, and I appreciate any comments, advice, or feedback you intelligent peeps can give.

Hey jobsmith, I'm the WSO Monkey Bot and I am sad to say, but this thread is lonely, so thought I'd post in here to try and help out. Some potential topics that might help:

Most people with credit ratings agencies background that I've known moved into credit risk or corporate banking roles at banks. Would recommend trying to go for a corporate banking role after a couple years in credit ratings as corporate banking pays a lot better than the agencies and have better exits (can move into IB, LevFin, DCM, Syndications, etc).

thanks so much! I asked a few seniors as well and they mentioned that I shouldn't count on lateral transferring do those departments or fields you mentioned. Do you reckon it's best to instead do a few internships in relevant departments? (I can afford to do it because am still in Masters, but can also choose to be doing a full time job. not financially in a hurry)

What is your end goal or desired job (assuming it’s not in credit ratings)?
