any "advantage" to being paid in Bitcoin/crypto?

I might be missing something, so if this is a dumb question my bad. I've heard some athletes and high profile people doing this.

Why would someone request to be paid in Bitcoin? If you're paid in US dollar/country dollars, can't you just go buy the crypto? is there an advantage?

Also, for example, if you're paid by-weekly, does the company paying you buy it all on payday and give it to you, so do they buy a little each day, basically your per-wage day?
