Dimensional Fund Advisors vs. Buy-Side ER

I'm currently a junior at a semi-target with summer offers from Dimensional and a long-only buy-side (10-12B AUM) firm. I'm looking to eventually get into the Private Equity or discretionary Hedge Fund space and am currently deliberating between the two firms. I realize Dimensional is more of a passive 'smart-beta' firm, but I think there could still be some value in being exposed to the portfolio management role. The ER position would be purely bottom up fundamental equity research. Any advice on which position would help me to more efficiently reach my goal would be appreciated.
