Office requires 5 days in office. How am I supposed to navigate recruiting?
My company is old school (part of the reason I want to leave). How do I take networking calls and interviews and not piss anyone off?
I’ve already been through an entire round of interviews (no offer) and can’t use the dentist excuse.
Analyst 1 in ER, pure crickets, that's where I come in. Any of these useful?

Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.

I was fortunate enough that my firm was very flexible but had always wondered how I could have pulled off recruiting if that weren't the case. I honestly have no idea how people do it, but just know that before Covid everyone managed. I wonder if recruiters have grown more accustomed to candidates being available 24/7.
Fridays are usually chill. At my old firm, we used to work all 5 days in the office, but people usually come in around noon time on Friday. I used to interview 9am in the mornings on Fridays which used to work for me
You do realize that pre-COVID, everyone had to navigate this because there was almost no concept of WFH, right? Try to go for a walk for a phone call, try to find an empty conference room / coffee shop for zooms or schedule during non-peak hours.
If right before a networking call my boss pulls me into a meeting or keeps me in one is it ok to shoot a quick email over to them and say this and that I need to reschedule or would people perceive that as having your time unorganized/them not being important/rude
I'd first figure out how important that call is (i.e. networking or a true interview). If important, tell your boss that you have to hop to a call. I've never had anyone ask me what it was, considering everyone is busy. It is a balancing act.
Also curious for strategies people used pre-Covid
Take a walk, find a park/coffee shop, etc for networking/screening calls, for formal interviews find a coworking space and book their conference room. Schedule those when your chain of command is already busy (I check my manager's calendar first thing in the morning and work my day around it for various reasons)
Anyone have any stories of interviewing in the office and having someone overhear? Always a fear of mine.
I recently interviewed in my office’s kitchen, if it makes you feel better.
That’s wild…
