Ackman trying to maniplute the stock price?

A few years ago Jim Cramer got in trouble for talking-up stocks in which he held a position on mad money. I don't understand how Ackman talking shit about a stock in which he holds a short position is any different. How are his actions acceptable?

Well did Cramer disclose that his trusts owned the stocks? It probably also has to do with Cramer's audience being Main Street. Ackman is at industry conferences talking to people who actually can make a difference and are willing, able, and understand how to short.

I didn't do any searching, but I can guess that Cramer got in trouble because he either talked about a stock below a certain market cap or mentioned a trade in his Trust during a prohibited time period. Discussing small/micro caps is definite manipulation since large orders can easily move the stock. Not so much for HLF, GMCR, CMG, etc. You're allowed to talk your book.
