Any more strategy/BD role at hedge funds in HK/SG?

Hi everyone,

I am an international student in Singapore in my junior year applying for summer. I have been preping for consulting throughout my entire university but recently Singapore consulting firms do not sponsor employment pass n do not take international students for summer

I have confirmed with the HRs and my friends inside the firms (mbb n tier 2s) about the sponsorship and this is one must-have criterion. I'm told the rationale being Singapore is a popular place for relocation - for western folks to experience Asian culture thats easier to adapt to and for Asian people to relocate for better pay, thus the shortage of sponsorship. Singapore's protective policy also plays a role but anyways....

So i have been trying to apply for other roles like corporate strategy positions. Some of the best and the only opportunities i have are from hedge funds. My friend in Jane Street got me a referral for the business development intern role, which according to him is a combination of internal consultant plus project manager. I went to the second round and was out because i messed up an easy logical puzzle.

Then i applied for DE shaw for the strategy n BD internship and was out in superday round tho i thought the interviewers kinda liked me.

And these two were all the interviews i had up to now - I have applied for all the tier 1 2 3 consulting firms already and there just arent many strategy roles in singapore.

Now i am really stuck and dont know where to go. I think maybe im not casting the net wide enough for the hedge fund strategy roles but honestly no many such opportunities out there.

i would really love to seek help from the forum on what are some other penultimate internship opportunities similar to the two listed above, or other types of work related to consulting.

My ultimate objective is still to get into full-time consulting in Singapore - I am trying to figure out a way to get my own employment pass for full-time jobs.

For background, I got a double degree in cs and business. Decent GPA. One ft500 internship(where i did a cost optimizing project the regional CIO said i should be proud of ), one fintech startup internship, one startup of my own and one strategy internship in a public company. Wanna join consulting coz it's really something i think i have a talent and interest for, from my own experience in case competitions, case interviews and actual projects.

Thank you so much for helping! It's really appreciated.
