I think you are unlikely to get a reply by sending an email... inboxes are getting spammed all day by research/trade ideas/etc so very likely some random email will not get clicked on (I would probably think it is a phishing test), assuming it passes the firewall. Maybe I am wrong there, but I think it would be better to try and LinkedIn connect with someone you have some connection to (school, sports, etc.) and then ask some time for a coffee chat/etc which you can use to learn more and ask them to point you others who might be willing to share 15-20minutes of their time.

Then again, feel free to send an email and maybe someone will reply if you cast a wide enough net. Best of luck!

 

Seconding this point. My inbox has ~20k unread emails, a lot more if not for auto-archiving after a certain date. My LinkedIn is also spammed by requests but there is still a lot more breathing space and I might respond to a few kids there vs zero from email
