Hello guys, What is the reputation of the AM side of those big banks, JP AM, GS AM for example ? How would u rank them as investors vs big HFs ? Would u spend a bit of time there to build skills and your CV ? Thanks

Been covered in many threads. In and of themselves they're fine, actually quite good. However, if possible (assuming AM is your goal) I would try to position yourself with a leading AM firm, not an AM division of a bank. Why. Resources and Culture. Even though AM generates fees for the mothership, at the end of the day they're still banks. They're run by bankers. Regulatory environment is bank first / everything else second. Think about new potential regulation that will require 20% capitalization reserves. That's money that can't be invested in other things (like AM).
