Market maker vs alpha researcher
Hello people,
Currently, I have two offers and I have some questions about them.
1. A graduate quant trader program from a market-making company in Australia(one of the companies in Tibra, Optiver, SIG,…).
Pros: high base salary (but no bonus in the first two years), comprehensive training for junior traders
- An alpha researcher in a hedge fund in China (one of the companies in Worldquant, Trexquant, Cubist, …).
Pros: high bonus (linkage to your PnL)
My questions are:
1. If I want to have a good career path in the next 10 years in the quantitative trading industry, what should I choose?
2. If I choose a job as a market-maker, may I have the chance to go to hedge funds in the future?
Because this is my first job in the quantitative trading industry, I may see these offers in the wrong way.
Thank you for your help.
