MM IB Group Directly to HF?

Currently an analyst at a top MM IB(Blair, Baird, Harris Williams) trying to get into a HF as soon as possible. I'm in a pretty niche group (think FIG, energy, biotech) as well. Would I have a chance at landing a role at a reputable HF assuming solid preparation or would I have to lateral to a BB/EB to have a chance? Also, if I wanted to switch sectors and be more involved in something like tech/consumer, would I be able to make that transition?

Top SM will be hard.

MMHF is doable with that profile but will require you to do a lot of preparation for the "MM style" of trading. Would start getting clued up if this is what you want to pursue.

Ime, IBers tend to be seen as sector agnostic
