Quant Strat to Front office money management

I'm 29, I have 3 years under my belt in money management, half of that as a bonds trader at a bank (London) and the other half currently as an assistant ptf manager at a big AM (Italy)

The problem is I really want to change city (London) and I've been trying for a year to make the change and stay in money management, but to no avail. I'm now sitting on an offer for a quant strategist role (fixed income modelling/trade idea generation etc) at a fund in London which currently has no AUM.

Pros: gets me to London, extremely improves my quant skills

Cons: it's not in money management.

How likely do you think it is that I could return to managing money (potentially in a HF) in the future if I accept this role?
Thanks,
Fidelio
