Oil/gas Trading Interview Questions
For the oil/gas traders - What do you look for when trying to hire a junior trader, aside from soft skills (hard work, communication etc)?
For those of you that have gone through the interview process, what kind of questions were you asked?
Assuming you are an external candidate the traders interviewing you for a jr trade role are going to ask you about your understanding of S&D (production vs take-away capacity), market structure, derivatives (hedging), and inco terms. So I'd be ready to explain if you bought or sold X that you'd hedge by doing Y, understand that there are basis differentials and market structure (contango vs backwardation), and review inco terms.
Sorry to hijack a conversation from 2021.
can you please suggest any resources to prepare for these topics ?
This makes plenty of sense and i think i have a pretty good understanding of a lot of this, as well as the logistics that surround a specific trade.
As far as derivatives go - assuming they may go more in depth than just hedging/EFPs and discuss chart analysis? Support/resistance, VWAP, Fibbonacci retracements?
Also if any one has anything else to comment, please do.
