Value Investing. Where to start?

Hello WSO,

I am a young person (high school) interesting in value investing.

I have some money I’ve saved up from various childhood side hustles (massage therapist, vermin extermination, friendship bracelets, etc.) and I’d like to earn a reasonable return on it (24-25% IRR) for the next ~20 years so that one day I can heal the divide.

I’ve started with the obvious resources:

a. Grant Cardone literature
b. Sell side analysis

But I am not sure where to look next.

I am both intellectually curious and intellectually honest.

Can somebody please point me in the right direction!

Hi @chumlord,

Some great ways to start learning about value investing:

- Reading the front-page of WSJ each day! Get a sense of what moves markets, what people care about, etc.

- Read "The Most Important Thing" by Howard Marks

- Training the Street, or other online training programs aren't free. However, they are a wonderful way to understand financial modeling and valuation. Value investing is all about buying something that's at a price lower than its value. You still need to learn how to value something!

Good luck!
