Anyone here do a skincare routine?

Does anyone here do a skincare routine while working FT? Thinking this could be helpful based on the stress of finance jobs

Edit: by routines, it should be more than just washing your face with water every night like how someone below had mentioned

Washing your face with water in the morning and evening is not a routine

Most Helpful

Morning: Wash Face +  Moisturizer + Sunscreen

Evening: Wash Face + Retinol + Moisturizer

The above is a very good foundational skincare routine that is an easy habit to incorporate. Remember consistency is key here. If you follow the above your skincare routine will take less than 5 minutes each day and your skin will be better than 95% of men, especially as you age,

CeraVe, La Roche Posay, and Cetaphil are all good "budget" brands. Make sure you get a cleanser specifically for your skin type (i.e. acne, oily, dry, combination). Use SPF 30 or higher sunscreen. You can also use a combo moisturizer + sunscreen in the morning (I like Neutrogena Hydroboost Sunscreen or CeraVe AM Moisturizer with Sunscreen). I went to a dermatologist to get a retinol prescription, but Differin is the most common brand in the US.

Yep, anyone using/wanting to use sunscreens should get a Korean one. I fucking hated them before Korean sunscreens, it's not really different than a moisturizer.

I wash my face with CerVe and put on a toner and moisturizer after the toner dries.
All 3 were gifted to me, thanks mom!

It’s called “CeraVe” didn’t you see the Michael Cera commercial?

Absolute basic routine that will have you looking and aging better than 95% of other people:

Morning: Face wash, Moisturizer, Broad-Spectrum sunscreen.

Evening: Face wash, Moisturizer.  (You can add a serum if you want to help give your skin an extra boost overnight. But it's not necessary)

Cleaning and moisturizing is crucial because it'll keep you from having acne or having excessively oily/dry skin.

Sunscreen is most important. I could be wrong but something around 75-90% of skin aging comes from UV exposure. By just having a basic broad spectrum spf 30 or more sunscreen on, you're blocking out 95% of the photons that would otherwise be directly hitting your skin. You can't stop yourself from aging, but you can absolutely slow down the aesthetics of it.

In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I’ll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1,000 now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water-activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm, followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

I wash my face in the shower with an organic wash.  Then, after taking a shower and shaving, I apply two moisturizers.  One I use on my entire face, which has a little collagen it.  I am not sure if it does anything.  The second one is has retinol in it that I primary use on my goatee area.  The retinol one is terrific for hair growth.  For a long time ( we are taking decades, haha), I could not grow a goatee or at least not one that looked decent,  until a few years ago.  I have to attribute it to the retinol.

Why did you want to grow a goatee?

I just wanted to see if I could grow one and now I can. Aren't goatees kind of fashionable?  To be extra fashionable, I grow the goatee for 3 days and then take it off.

I have a skincare routine. It is called hydration, almonds, avocados, and foods on this list:

I'm sure these are quite healthy foods and supplements to consume, wondering though as I usually don't incorporate these into my regular diet, do you think these work / have tangible improvements and results after some months?

Yes

Alongside the other products mentioned (moisturizer + sunscreen being the most important) - I also use eye cream, makes me not look like a zombie after late nights. Really though, moisturizer (Cerave is cheap) + SPF30+ (I use SPF50) is literally all you need.

Do you use sunscreen throughout the day or before bed? I've heard it's good for skin but usually only use during summers when going outside

Sunscreen once a day in the morning, after moisturizer. Do it regardless of weather, the sun affects your skin even if it’s cloudy outside.

Figure out what skin type your face is and try products from lists of standard products people with your skin type usually use. Then you play around in that product universe for what things work best for you. If you're asian (also even if not), try korean skincare brands as well
