Failed recruiting for SA2023 - what are my realistic options?

Hi,

I attempted to recruit for IB SA2023 positions in London but failed miserably. Only got one first-round interview and an AC - both of which I failed. I'm very disappointed that I failed SA2023 recruiting so hard and would love your input on what my options are and how realistic they are. My first-hand goal is to land an analyst position in PE at a MF/UMM fund in London. If that does not work out, my second-hand goal is to land a position in IB at a top-tier BB/EB in London. I do have an offer in IB at a top Nordic bank for this summer and I might be able to find an off-cycle internship for this spring. With that said, 2024 FT recruiting could be my only bet.

My background:

  • 6-month internship at a European PE firm (€10B+ AUM)

  • IB Internship at a top Nordic bank

  • Internship in VC

  • Starting LBS MFA in 2023

  • Bachelor's from a non-target Nordic university (GPA 3.8/4)

I will be very thankful for any input provided.

Do not do this. If you have no reason to push back graduation then don't do it, you'll be quizzed about it in interviews. Most banks allow final year students to apply anyway.

Congrats, you must have a really strong profile. Usually, London is far more competitive than European offices, especially as many banks want to decrease their headcount in London.
