Summer Analyst

I am currently interning at a strong coverage group at a big MM.

I was recently told in formal review session that I am Definitely not on track to get a return.
For context, I am putting in the most hours and the poor review was a surprise as all the feedback I asked for previously was positive. The reviews had to do with not getting things on the first try and having a poor technical ability.

I spoke with members of the team and most of them are saying different things about my performance. For instance, some said my performance is fine but it has to do with me being not as present. While others are saying I have couple minor errors that can’t be flying in my work, meaning my work should be close to perfect at this point:

any advice would be greatly appreciated as I would like to plan on how to go forward.

I am a little confused. You said your review was poor however most of your feedback was positive until now, but then you say you asked around and it was mixed. Was it mixed or was it good?

Also you say that regarding your feedback it was stuff that “can’t be flying in my work”. In my experience so far that translates to “basic stuff” (unless I’m misunderstanding what you mean) I’d say maybe keep it simple? I obviously don’t know what your work looks like but the way I see it, the point of an internship should be showing that you are a good fit for FT. Keep it simple and pay attention to assumptions (if you’re modeling) or to detail in anything else.

The couple people I got feedback from before the review was positive, then after the review I followed up with the team and their complaints were mixed in the sense that some said it was performance & others said it has nothing to do with performance but rather personality(engagement)
