Where do I go?

Hello everyone sorry for being the annoying student asking for advice!! But I really need some hahaha. I am a finance student starting my fourth year in September. I’m from uofg not a target school ik :(
I have always been interested in M&A and wanted to get into IB but obv I was just mesmerised with the money and all other cool stuff. Halfway through my degree I started developing interests in other fields too. Couldn’t manage to get an internship in IB this summer despite having a 1st and expected 1st too(I’m aware that it’s not just grades that will get me in). Got an internship at a fintech startup in London (operations analyst ) however, that’s not what I wanna do. I’m looking at how IB treats people and the working hours and PE is just as IB I’m so confused on what to do. Simply put : I want a really good salary, decent work life balance idm sacrificing weekends and working long hours sometimes! Do wanna be women in IB but dk if I’m truly built for it😭as much as I enjoy M&A but that’s in theory 💀 so would love to get some suggestions on what all I can explore! I’ve got a big student loan so defo a job with really good salary in the UK🥲

If UofG is university of greenwich, you won't even make it to HR at an investment bank let alone M&A

if you were always interested in m&a for the money prospects without wanting to sacrifice time or build a career in finance it doesn’t seem like a good fit. If you said you wanted to start in ib so then you could lateral to am/wm with an already established foundation that would be fair but then why not just go straight in am/wm or corporate banking or private banking which all have on average good pay and good wlb. Or be a middle office analyst and hope to transfer internally or go up in MO. So many options so it’s hard to recommend anything in particular without a better sense of direction on your part. Do you like a particular industry within finance? Do you like finance? Do you want to be more focused on technical/execution aspects or want to be more qualitative/relationship focused?

You're Greenwich? I'm happy for you you even landed that fintech role
