Australia - getting into IB or consulting undergrad

Hello!

Does anyone know if a double degree computer science/law would be better than either commerce/computer science or commerce/law given the saturation of commerce degrees? Or would this only be useful for getting into IP law etc.

Hey mate,
Giving my 2 cents - all of those are good degrees, and the difference will come down to what you do outside of uni as to whether you get into IB. Typically Id say doing a commerce degree as one of your 2 will help justify why you’re interested in finance, but most of the relevant interview content and on the job skills you’ll be teaching yourself anyway. Try and study what you enjoy and that’ll result in the best outcome for you (which may not even be IB or consulting). That being said, if I had to redo uni I’d choose com/comp sci due to personal preference and the banks seeming to view stem very favourably atm. TMT/fin tech is also very hot in Aus.

Regarding consulting, they really don’t care what degree you have as long as you’re intelligent and can ‘differentiate’ yourself in your experiences. All the best.
