BB or MM - London

I have offer to start in a US non-GS/MS/JP BB in London in a very good sector team. The people are nice and culture really good.

Theoretically, if I were to get an offer from a L/S MM team, would you guys start there instead?

Obv it depends what I want to do, since it’s two different jobs. For me it’s difficult because I think all of M&A, L/S, distressed, credit, PE etc etc could be very interesting in the long term, and I am not dead set on the IB -> PE route

just my 2 cents but here goes anyway:

i'd go for IB, as you'll probably get looks from HF anyway after some time in the role, and if you end up liking M&A you can stay there.

Don't think that the HF straight out of undergrad offered you the same optionality as IB does.

If you're still not sure on what it is that you like IB is the perfect choice to get a sense of both sides of a deal.
