Does course matter to get into IB
So I was just curious to know that some say your course doesn’t matter to get into IB especially in US, its the college name that matters. Even if someone has done an absolute irrelevant MS degree like say suppose history or management, and have graduated from the top 10 universities in USA have better chances of getting into IB than someone who has done MS in finance from not an IVY university or top 10, how true is that?
If you are an international you should be trying to do something that qualifies for STEM OPT to maximize your visa time. Generally, there is generally not many people who do any MS degree and break into finance so to break in through a questionable path way it is almost a MUST that you go to a top 10 school in the country. It might actually be even more restrictive (top 4 or smthn) for the MS level but I don't know a ton about that path.
Yes so I’m not from US but was thinking to go to states for me MS degree as it’s my dream to work into finance in New York or Chicago. So what would you recommend me to do in order to break into the industry there. And I don’t have much of work experience, prolly 9 to 12 months.
