Does what I study matter that much?
I'm going to be studying at a very reputed school in Singapore, ranked Top 20 globally. Although I want to break into high finance/consulting, studying something about public policy and international relations is what I chose. Obviously while I will put in the work to give myself a financial background on the side as much as possible to display the necessary skills, like doing an online course with BIWS or trying to do a Y1 or Y2 internship with small family firms, ultimately I want to intern with a BB firm in Y3 or Y4 to later than start off as a junior analyst upon graduation.
Tldr: does the relevance of my degree matter that much if I put in the work to get relevant small work experience as well as to build up the relevant skillset myself
