How much pull does an MD have on another division of a large PE?

Longtime lurker here.

I'm your run-of-the-mill recent grad who doesn't have the necessary work experience to land a full-time job. As such, I've been looking for more internship opportunities but I haven't been able to fulfill the prior work experience prerequisites.

Luckily, my parents know a lot of people in the industry and have started to call in favors. One such is an MD at an extremely prestigious PE (BX, Carlyle, KKR, etc.) who works within their Investor Relations department.

My question is how much can she really push a resume through other departments? Does IR have enough of a pull on the other departments in the context of PE? Mind you, she got her first internship due to my dad pushing her resume 15+ years ago so she really is repaying a favor and more than just "pushing".

I really would like an internship at this company as another family friend has agreed to help with at least securing an interview down the road for a very hard-to-get job (GS SSG/TMT, Qatalyst, BX Tac Opps, etc.) if I manage to get some work experience in an equally prestigious firm. So please, any hustling ideas and tricks to impress will be greatly appreciated because I understand that I'm very fortunate in my position and the least I can do is take advantage of it.

(I'm sorry for the prestige sucking but I think its a necessary detail to better understand how this process works at such companies/divisions)

Cheers.
