Personal Vs Professional Life Dilemma, What would y'all do?
Hi guys, I live in the south in a very small city and recently landed an internship in Dallas at Lockheed Martin as a FP&A analyst where I will be making $24/hr and have every other friday off, hybrid schedule. Before this, I was rejected for an IB internship in Dallas. Recently, I saw more openings and applied to some IB internships in Houston, specifically Truist.
I am in the interview process but given I receive a FT offer, I'm actually not sure if I should take it.
Cons:
1. I lived in Houston in 2023 for another internship and I think that it is the shittiest city I've ever lived in (I've lived in 5 states at this point)
2. I don't have many friends there. All my long time friends have moved to Dallas.
3. I will be long distance with my serious girlfriend (1 year, I know it's not that long but for me it is the longest relationship I've had), she's moving to Dallas too but for school.
Pros:
1. I wanted to give high finance a chance to see if I'm capable of doing it
2. Money, now I know Truist kinda fucked their staff over last year in regards to bonuses so I'm not entirely sure how much I should take that into consideration
3. Exit Ops, like everyone else, I would love to join the buyside (VC Pref) but must pay my dues first
Usually I am one to make my own decisions very quickly but for some reason, this has recently been bothering me a lot. Has anyone else been through this? What did you guys do and how did you find your answer out? I know I value my free time as I love playing games, working out, and going to raves across the country but I know with IB that's not gonna be possible. I love money too and I have had a 6 figure job ($125k) before as well (I'm doing a career change). I know money won't make me happy but I know I will be disappointed in myself if I don't push myself to new limits and if I were to turn down an opportunity that others would want.
