Picking a summer internship

Hey guys, I'm a freshman currently in university (Canada) and I've recently received offers to two internships over the summer.

I'm not really decided on what I want to do after university so I'm looking for the internship that would leave the most doors open in the future.

1) Major Oil Company in Hong Kong/Calgary. Working in the Business Development and Strategy office. 1 month in Hong Kong, 3 in Calgary.

2) PWM office at Canadian Big 5 in Toronto. I don't have family in Toronto so this would mean living at a friend's house for 4 months.

The first internship does pay about $5k more, and living/relocation expenses in Hong Kong are covered.

Thanks :) Just wondering what job you would take given the situation.

If it were me, I'd choose the first one and not look back. I think even though PWM is more directly a finance role the opportunity in BizDev is unique enough that you should be able to leverage it later down the line. Plus, as it is only your freshman year, you have plenty of time to load up on other finance internships. The chance to go abroad, more pay, better experience=win in my book.
