Macquarie sponsored a UK colleague from London to Oz.

But that is literally the only case I have heard of in banking. Another friend moved from Essex/London to work for Groupon back in the day, he was also sponsored.

Both British, afaik.

edit: just read your question again, I am not sure if anyone would sponsor students, sorry.
But look into working holiday visas for Oz, British passport holders qualify.

I'd say with almost certainty that no BBs or high-end boutique sponsor students from outside of Australia who aren't studying at Aus universities. Spots in Australia are relatively scarce to begin with (average intern class 5-10 people for IB with some banks recruiting less than a handful of interns), so there is no need to sponsor when there is already so much demand for only a few roles. Banks run workshops and case comps to feed into their internships, only making it tougher for international students
