I'm 49 Years Old.. Can an MBA Reset My Career?

I'm currently 49. I graduated with a BBA in '03 with 4 years financial work experience. Presently I am thinking about going back to school for an MBA. My passion is to work as analyst in a commercial bank, not an investment bank. My strategy is to get get an MBA and while in school take an internship which will build up relevant financial work experience to help me work at a bank. Do you think this is possible given my age?

This is a really interesting question! I would say that nothing is impossible, also: what did you do before your degree and after your work experience? you must have excellent skills in other areas? Were you a successful entrepreneur?

I have met people who were in their forties and landed a job post-MBA, so it is something that is not impossible. (I don't know what effect the pandemic will have on your specific situation, sorry).

Well I worked at sales at a crm company, did private equity for a few months, worked at phone company and finance magazine.

If business analysis is your thing, look at a guy like Benedict Evans (or others like him)

I have met him a very long time ago at an event, he wasn't in a BB or anything at that time. His analysis was part of his personal website and he published a lot of cool things. With networking and excellent published analysis, he was hired into andreessen horowitz.

Not saying these things happen every single day or often. But your career and work only ends when your heart stops beating. Make the most of it!

Are you saying I should get in contact with Benedict Evans to get networking advice from him?
