CPP Investments PE Secondaries

Does anyone have insight into CPP Investment's PE secondaries group? They are looking for a Senior Associate at the moment. The recruiter is not disclosing what the comp will be. I was also able to find the posting on this website which advertised $80 - $100k for the position. No idea if that's a legit website but the amount noted there is so shockingly low for someone with 5+ years of IB or PE experience in New York that I am inclined to think its just wrong info. Any insight into comp, reputation and deal flow for the group?

I know the pensions decently well in Canada. Comp of $80-100k for a senior associate is 100% wrong. Up here, I would guess a senior associate equivalent to be ~$130k-$150k base pay (check the H1B database for the US and it seems similar), with bonus of ~100%. It could be higher in the US as well.

Overall my impression is that the CPPIB secondaries team is quite well regarded given their scale, although turnover at the senior levels has been high (many left to Whitehorse Liquidity Partners, and also to TPG). That is likely just from being an early player in the secondaries market though, so would not be too worried.

That is definitely wrong. Compared to other secondaries players, CPP pays competitively - at least cash wise - as they obviously don’t pay carry (although I understand they have some form of long term incentives). I don’t know what the exact figures are, but the $130-150k + 100% bonus quoted above sounds about right to me.

They are quite well regarded, but are more active in the LP / traditional secondary side of the market rather than GP-leds.
