Moving from LMM to UMM
Hi there,
I have been an associate in a lower MM fund for about 1 year, but am keen to move somewhere larger, in the main / upper MM.
How possible is this?

Career Resources
People like to act like this is impossible (maybe I’m optimistic because I’m in a similar boat) but if you look at a lot of the large funds or UMM funds there are always a decent number of folks that started at smaller shops.
unlike banking where your placement is based mainly on prestige, a lot of lateral PE recruiting has to do with actual deal experience and your ability to discuss your role on each deal and the process
bump
Definitely possible, seen people do it all the time.
Depends on market - a few years ago? Easy. Today? Harder.
Very possible, know many who have done this.
Echo the poster above. The market for lateral in London is dead at the moment
