Networking/ job seeking with PE firms after sell-side processes?
Has anybody in a sellside M&A process ever networked or asked for a job after working with a potential counterparty (sponsor or strategic)?
Specific situation is I'm a VP at a LMM IB doing a lot of deals in a specific TMT subsector, and interested in speaking with some LMM PE firms in that same subsector that I've reached out to during sellside processes about potentially working for them. Any advice? Has anyone tactfully done this (successfully or not)?
Edit: Should have put "after" not "during" in the title...
Totally inappropriate. Ask them after the process for a coffee instead
I would definitely not do this, it's gauche. You can get coffee with people after the deal dies or closes, but I would seriously question anyone who reaches out during a process looking for a job
