PE -> Entrepreneurship - ideas for transition

Hope everyone’s enjoying the festive period off-deal!

Bit of a rogue one - I’m currently 1y into a 2y (U)MM PE ASC program, thinking of leaving at 1.5y post bonus to properly give entrepreneurship a shot. For various reasons I’ll end up with about 6-9m before things really get going (actually starting to build product and raise seed).

One of the things I want to do is to improve my Chinese, thinking of getting some form of ‘internship’ / temporary role at a startup in China. Has anyone tried this before or have any ideas?

Region

I have an academic background in ML / Software engineering but went down the finance/business route (MBB and PE), so wouldn’t be the ‘technical’ co-founder

China is for personal reasons (want to learn the language) and professional (it’s really one of the two economies that drive the world, useful to understand a bit better)

i don't really recommend china if you're not already in the ecosystem.

if most startups fail, you're really not doing yourself any favors by trying to learn the language and culture at the same time.

you should find the technical cofounder first before proceeding
