PE Recruiting Profile

Incoming SA @ EB (GHL/GUGG/PWP) from Semi Target (UVA/Vandy/Emory).

I’m wondering how much I should stress about GPA until I graduate. Is a 3.7 vs a 3.9 that significant of a difference for on cycle recruiting or can I just enjoy my life and relax?

I am ambitious and hate regret so I would love to do all I can on my end to have a profile fit for MF PE - even if I decide it isn’t for me after gaining experience.

MF PE will be hard from most firms, including from the EBs you listed (GHL/GUGG/PWP).

Guggenheim - doesn't place that well into MF PE

Perella - probably the best of the three, but analysts are less encouraged (=supported) to exit. Not sure how it may impact your recruiting efforts

Greenhill - Pretty stable and solid buy-side placements (out of these three). More UMM PE with occasional MF PE exits

TLDR - I'd try to improve GPA to the extent you can. It won't be a deal-breaker, but you have other things going against you (going to semi target; mid-range EBs, etc.) to be a competitive candidate for MF PE

In my experience, not a huge difference. They want to make sure you do good with the case study and are someone they can enjoy working with.
