Wells Fargo M&A Group Exit opportunities in PE
Incoming 2023 analyst in the M&A Group at Wells Fargo in NYC (not in Charlotte as many would automatically assume).
Knowing that Wells Fargo may not place as good as GS, MS, JPM, BoFA, an other banks, I would like to know what are my chances of landing a good PE gig post-IB, preferably at a Mega Fund.
What are the funds in which I would have more chances?
I will be working in the M&A group, which is the most technical one, and very modelling-intensive, taking part in large cap transactions in a wide range of sectors.
This question may be better directed to the MF headhunters. If you search this forum or the internet in general you may be able to find out who are the headhunters for the private equity firms you are targeting. Good luck :)
if ur goal is MFPE then literal 0 chance. you're better off lateralling and trying from there
UMM/MM is more realistic. MF will be tough as Wells Fargo M&A is just not their bread and butter. Majority (if not all) of large cap transactions that wells is involved in is on the buy side because they are lending off their balance sheet. Buy side advisory is much different and less valuable as an analyst than sell side. Sell side fees can be up to $50m on a $10b transaction whereas buy side advisory fees will be ~$5m
