Why did Ed Liddy take the AIG job?
I suppose it might be a resume-booster or something, but the guy was already rich and retired before going to AIG to work for $1 a year. It doesn't seem like a glamorous job right now, and even if he does a great job his results will be hard to measure - the outcome isn't going to be very pretty no matter how good he is.
Serve his country, infinite glory of turning around the biggest mess of government-private sector intervention ever, get Americans off the hook for what will be the biggest bailout in the history of the world...
Someone had to do it. I was pretty disgusted that some of the populist-mongering congressman were assigning him blame. Ridiculous.
Because he has a ton of money and glamour already? When you get that rich, you will find it is a lot more respected to serve your country than work for personal gain. Unfortunately, it seems some people have decided to make serving your country seem unattractive by casting unfair blame on him.
Glory. Attention. AIG is big news. He gets to be at the center. If you were an alpha male you'd understand.
lol
Ed Liddy doesn't want attention. People with his kind of money and power prefer privacy. If you were rich you'd understand.
Clearly he prefers privacy. That's why he took the job.
[scratches head]
