Director/MD Pay at Wells CRE
Does anyone know what comp looks like with the various CRE groups at Wells at the senior level? Thinking REB, MFC, CLI. Do some of them pay significantly more than others or are they all within somewhat of a range of each other?
Much different now than pre 2022 when balance sheet basically went on pause. In REB, I’d say director/MD will only make like 200-300k. RESCM and Syndications make the most in CRE at wells. HFG comp is pretty good too.
Have heard some of the nyc guys at the VP level make north of this (one level below director I think) don’t remember which group. Remember hearing people in some offices make significantly less than the nyc guys.
So the guys making the loans make less than the guys selling off pieces to other banks?
Syndications have to be the most overpaid people on the planet. At least in CRE.
Syndications is way busier rn.
Syndications makes about as much as REIB at the junior levels. Can’t speak to senior levels.
It’s all about fees my friend. Fees = profit.
I'd be shocked if directors/MDs are only making $200k-300k especially in nyc. At that point I feel like they could be doing almost literally anything else... is REB just paying especially bad because they're originating close to nothing versus MFC/CLI?
Yeah that can’t be right. There are a few jobs across lending out in the market right now. Deutsche Bank is hiring for an associate and salary alone already gets you pretty close to $200k-$300k. I would probably double that estimate for an NYC director/MD.
Associates in REB make like $150k+. I really don't see how an MD would only make $200-300K. Pay has increased since the CRE teams moved from Wholesale to the Corporate/IB part of the bank. I'd be shocked if MDs aren't clearing $500k+ with Directors in the $300-350k range but this is a guess.
Yes when they are active but the wells balance sheet is basically not available right now. Right now, all REB is doing is portfolio management work. In good years yes they are definitely making good money.
Does REB have higher pay than MFC at the VP/director level? Aren’t MFC VP’s at a 175K base and directors at a 200K base? How does this compare to REB?
Would like to know too. Strange to me that REB would have a higher base than MFC given that MFC is fee based and historically has been super profitable.
REB only get salary and bonus and sometimes equity - CLI is likely the same . Pretty sure MFC also gets loan commission so salary would likely be less but potential is higher. Senior originators/RM’s in REB prob top out around $500k ($250k ish salary +/- with 85-100% bonus)
There are VP, Directors and MD’s in MFC that are not in originations. So they don’t get a commission. They get paid a base plus bonus with equity. Base is $175-250K+
