Sovereign Wealth Funds

Hi all,

I would be interested to hear from those working within the real estate divisions of Sovereign Wealth Funds. I've interacted with people from all sorts of REPE and FO's but never an SWF.

1). What is the culture like at an SWF (ADIA, QIA, Mubadala, GIC, Korea Investment Corporation etc.)? Are they sweaty or relaxed? Imagine this varies from firm to firm.

2). Again, I imagine this varies from firm to firm but what are the investment strategies at these places like? And I assume they are mostly LP's rather than doing direct deals themselves?

3). How is comp compared to MM/MF REPE? Do they allow co-invest or shadow carry (assuming shadow carry for SWF's)?

4). Do they provide additional benefits such as schooling for your kids, housing provision (if going abroad), etc?

5). I've heard if you are a non-national then your career can begin to stagnate. How true is this?

6). How good are the exit opportunities from a SWF?

Thanks!

Are you currently interviewing at one? Are you in the US? Posts appear to Show you are in the UK.

I am at a SWF. would say it is a bit slower, more traditional. they do have international programs, but they are way smaller than a BB or large corporation.

It is true that the family can move with you, we have done that before (no kids yet).

Haven't exited yet, so not sure what the options are. but our partners are other SWFs and funds.
