It really is a gamble.

I went to an Ivy League undergrad for pre med. I joined a frat, partied and was asked to take a year off due to poor grades. I interned at a regional bank during that time off. They thought I had graduated lol cause I applied through my school career website and I never corrected them.

After a year I went back to school and got a degree in psychology. My gpa was 2.3. I knew I wanted to do banking cause of the money, but what bank would hire someone who took a year off and graduated with a horrible gpa when they could hire 4.0 kids that majored in finance at my school?

So I gambled. I used a resume for my school career database but I didn’t list my major or gpa. And I stressed I took a year off and actually worked at a bank. I got interviews with some great banks because my school is Ivy and during interviews I was of course asked about my story and gpa. I just straight up said I had a 3.7. No one ever checked and your transcript is secret.

At the bank I joined they did fire a kid for lying, but he basically didn’t graduate from college. He was like a few credits short and when HR finally got around to checking they caught him.
