Resume help for MAcc Student looking to break into Energy IB

Hi all,

I'm entering my final year of the Masters in Accounting program at UT-Austin. I'm trying to break into Energy IB in Houston and would like any and all suggestions on my resume. Please don't hold back on the criticism. The more, the better.

However, note that my school does require a standard resume for OCR, so that is why some of the formatting varies from a typical IB resume.

Thanks for any help!

-Don't include your major GPA if it is lower than your cumulative. -Include your stats from UG. -For your current internship, use the present tense as it is ongoing. -Throw in something like leadership experience at a club or something for 2010 because it looks odd having an entire year missing. -MS Office is not a skill.

Good luck.

If you are going to put equity trading, be prepared to answer plenty of questions about your picks, returns, etc. If you can't speak to those specifics I would take this off your hobby list.

I also might put a graduation date for your BBA, and a separate one for your MPA, and take off the "fifth-year" text. Not sure why you put "Track" instead of major, maybe that's UT specific, but I would consider changing it to major.

EDIT: just saw that you have to have a standard resume format for UT...I would still get a more typical one for sending to HR / recruiters.

Put a little bit more about your study abroad in Vienna, unless all you did was drink and bang hot Austrian chicks.

You should be in really good shape. There are a ton of UT grads in Houston IB, and having an MPA always helps. I for one wish I had more accounting knowledge. Good luck!
