I'm matriculating in a top-tier school this fall and wondering what to do between now and then. My background is in marketing and I want to break into consulting (MBB, preferably). I can't afford to spend the summer travelling or working for an orphanage in Central America. Should I stick with my current job until August or try to find something related to consulting? What are my options?

Thanks in advance.

Just stick it out with what you have now. You likely will have a rough time landing something in next month as the summer positions will likely have been filled already. You summer between the 1st and 2nd years is when you would usually do a summer internship so just wait until then.

You could on the other hand network. Which is something that you'll do for the rest of your life, so why not start now!?
