Career advice for slightly unhinged incoming freshman at Berkeley

Hi all! I'm an incoming college freshman at UC Berkeley this fall, where I will be studying statistics. I have quite a bit of college credit that would apply, so I would most likely be graduating in 2 years with a BA. I'm looking at the PhD -> quant finance MF route.

In this case, would it be advisable to look into a double major in economics at the Haas School? Or should I just focus on the statistics degree, get out early and then start on my PhD?
