Masters in RE Schools and Choices General Discussion

Hey Monkeys,

Looking to share insight into which programs I should be applying for. I hope this turns into an open discussion for MSRE's in general. It would be great for other monkeys to share their past/present experiences with MSRE's.  I am not asking whether or not this is "worth it". This is something I have thought long and hard on and fully plan on undertaking.

My profile:

UG: 3.0 GPA from non-target Major in Finance, Focus in RE

WE: 3 years as a CRE Broker. Heavy deal flow for owner/operators and LMM investments.

Market: Secondary MCOL (Dallas, Denver, Atlanta)

GMAT/GRE: None, and I don't plan on taking them as most MSRE/D's have waivers or it is optional. I am not going to bury myself in 300 hours of work for it either. I work over 65 hours a week and have a personal life. Just my personal choice so take it as you will.

Reasons for MSRE: Break into a better market back on the East Coast. I wish to move to buy-side in an acquisitions/AM role as I do not want to live on commissions especially when starting a family.

For the fun part, Schools of Choice:

1 Georgetown Global Real Assets:

Location is perfect for my personal choices and is directly tied to the business school. Plenty of REPE options in the DCA. I like how it is directly tied to the b school for extracurricular reasons. Easier to mingle with MBA's

2 Georgetown MSRE through the SCS:

Reasons above. I know nothing is guaranteed, but this seems like a real safe bet to get into. A tried and true program for the DCA.

3 NYU Schack:

Seems like a safety school just based on what I have read. PT option would be nice for internships. NYU location is not my first choice, but* the value of being in REPE in NY seems like a great career booster.

4 Columbia:

I consider this a reach given I only have a 3.0, and I am unwilling to do the GMAT/GRE. However, website states that you can submit a waiver if you have majored in Finance which I have. I also have 3+ years of related experience.

That's all I have thus far. Open to hearing what other people's choices may be and why.
