options are tight...looking for advice

Looking for some insight.

I just graduated from a non-target in California, a middle of the road Cal State school, with a 3.0 in bus. admin. (I realize that many of you are from great schools).

The job market is pretty tough even for b2b, medical device or pharma sales, but I'm really interested in s&t, FI or Eq sales.

I have a WFC SVP in PWM contact, and I'm going to see if he has any strings around the s&t program.

If that doesn't play out, would you suggest an mba straight up? I read that Citi grabbed a summer analyst at Cal Poly SLO. It would take me a year to get it there, and the degree would be cheap. Perhaps I can weasel my way into a decent school located in the south?

Thanks.

you have a mediocre GPA in a gut major from a no-name non-target school, and you are trying to get into the most competitive industry at its worst time.

you will need a miracle via insane hookups, or get yourself into some kind of MSF and reboot. you will have trouble getting into any good place so your plan should be to be #1 at whatever place you can get into.

Read: MSF

but even then you would have to pull some strings. Sorry OP, should've started worrying about this sooner

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

no sweat. I'll end up doing something I enjoy, hopefully making good money...maybe sales mgmt in pharma down the line or internal to external wholesaling. I'll go ahead and see what my MSF options are. appreciate the honest feedback monkeys.

I'm a Cal Poly alum and while people get into banking every year, they are all from the UG program. Please don't do an MBA there if you are trying to get into a FO role at a bank.
