Part time MBA vs full time MBA
-
Networked my way into a bespoke credit fund in NYC after 2 years of buy side work experience post undergrad (securitized credit; ABS)
-
After 2 years of strong performance here, employees are willing to hear me out on MBA sponsorship
-
I am getting structuring, deal execution, and leadership experience at my current workplace
-
Comp: 200K USD++
-
Non target school from Asia
GPA was not impressive
Internships/Projects were impressive -
More than anything, I am looking to get an MBA from a reputable school to “erase” away references to my bachelors. Hopefully this leads to better long term career opportunities.
-
I am also interested in entrepreneurship after but willing to be patient about it if company is sponsoring
-
My thinking is that a part time MBA from a highly reputable school (easier to get in than FT?) would be the best choice for me.
-
is my thinking/approach wrong in any way? Should I be adamant on FT MBA (even if it’s from a less reputable school)?
Go full time if you are trying to erase past sins
if you’re doing great where you are then maybe skip it
I never really thought part time was worth much
but that’s just my 2c
If you’re looking to smack it on a CV or LinkedIn, EMBA is fine and far easier to get into. It’s the same degree and nobody will know. If you need to change jobs / industry, full time.
