Bank rates traders making $2m+?
Two of my friends just got bonus numbers of $4m and $800k respectively (former was an insane year on the desk) as rates traders (5-6 years of exp) seems like insane comp but its verified
How common is this? what is typical pay for a VP level rates trader at a american bank nowadays
Crazy. What kind of rate product do they trade (repo, cash, swap, derivs)? Are they just VP level?
They are capping to you.
800k definitely seems very plausible for an experienced VP. 4 mil is quite the bonus for that tenure. What bank was that?
Is this within S&T? What's the comp as you go up realistically? Including the bonus
4m$ for a VP doesn’t exist. He is just bullshitting. 800k is possible.
6 years could be director
6yr of Exp in trading doesn’t mean VP necessarily. Super stars (very rare but do exist) can be promoted incredibly fast. Promotions are way less structured in S&T at banks than they are in IBD. Doesn’t change the fact that 4mio seems very high especially this yr. But some desk did have amazing years.
So you’re saying the numbers are possible?
I mean it wouldn’t be unheard of yes. So yes possible. Likely ? Probably not, but possible
