Commodity Trading out of Undergrad
Coming up to final year of undergraduate. Would love to learn more about how to best prepare for breaking into physical commodities space.
Am aware of the TDP and the Super Majors graduate programmes.
1) Do they hire mostly from their summer internship or is it fine to apply to the grad programme?
2) How would you go about making yourself a stronger candidate for next year applications? Should I keep up with markets/learn technicals?
bump
They do hire almost exclusively from intern programs :/
If you scroll back there are a number of resources if you scroll back. Next best would be working for a smaller shop and then if a spot opens up, try to get into the major
i know some people who got internships in trading after graduation, not sure how feasible this is but they will pay enough to get by
Imo your still fine to apply to the grad programmes but I think if you wanna break into a top shop such as glencore/trafigura then some summer experience would be ideal. Lot of small shops you can reach out to in London for a summer to get some real hands on experience and 100% keep up with the markets
