Finance w/ concentration in math.
Hello, I'm a rising sophomore in a business program and would like to go into trading. I had originally wanted to double major in math but found out that I couldn't. Instead, I can only have a second "concentration" in Math...I guess in my resume I will business major and list a bunch of math courses that I will take. Do you guys think that it's OK to do it like this? Or should I just completely give up the business major and switch to Math major?
I would do math and concentration in finance.
well, i haven't checked on that ^^...but, the biz program is rather exclusive, and I can't just take classes there, unlike the math dpt that's open to everyone...
I'd have to tentatively agree with the above response - seems like modern trading, especially the fascinating derivative products everyone's getting into, wants for heavily quant backgrounds. Business/finance is an easier, more common degree, and doesn't distinguish you as much as being a mathematical genius. Then again, don't waste your life doing what you think they want to see. Do whichever is more interesting to you, because at some point you're going to have to tell someone a story about why you did it.
