Goldman Sachs S&T 2024 Summer Analyst
I'm a masters student in a Financial Engineering program at a top target school in the US and applied to the New York City FICC and Equities position back in late March but didn't hear anything back for several months. I randomly got an email yesterday regarding a Superday in a couple of weeks time, even though I've gone through 0 rounds of interviews up to this point (including OA and Hirevue). Is this normal? I thought these positions were already filled.
Well, based on the most helpful WSO content, it's not unheard of for recruitment processes to vary between firms and even between different departments within the same firm. Sometimes, the process can be unpredictable and you might find yourself in a Superday without prior rounds of interviews.
As for the timing, recruitment timelines can also vary widely. While it's true that many firms fill their positions early, it's not uncommon for spots to open up later in the process due to a variety of factors. So, it's possible that a position opened up and they thought of you.
Remember, the key is to be prepared. Even though you didn't expect this, take it as a positive surprise. Brush up on your knowledge, practice your interview skills, and go into the Superday with confidence. Good luck!
